What does the other person receive when I send them my card?

Curious what the recipient will see when you send them your DUB card?  What they get will depend on what information you entered to send the card and whether or not they have DUB.

However, it does not matter whether you sent the card from www.dubmenow.com on your computer or from the DUB app on your mobile device!

If The Card Recipient Does Have DUB:

If the recipient of your card already has DUB, you can send your card to their email address, phone number, or DUB ID (see http://support.dubmenow.com/forums/65460/entries/55764 for more info about DUB ID's).

A DUB user will always receive the card in the same way, regardless of the sending method.  They will receive a notification on their phones if they have the app, and they will receive an email with your card and links to accept or ignore your card.

If The Card Recipient Does Not Have DUB:

Scenario 1: You send your card by entering an Email Address

  • Your DUB card is sent to the person in an Email along with a link to join DUB (it will look like the DUB card pictured to the right).
  • The recipient can then create a DUB account online or download it onto their phone.  When they sign in and accept your card, all your card information will automatically be synced to their phone's address book, and their information will be synced to yours.  Now you will both always have each other's most updated contact information!
  • If the recipient does not accept the card, they will receive a reminder email about it one week after it was originally sent, and after that they will receive no more emails about your card.

Scenario 2: You send your card by entering a Phone Number (SMS/Text Message)

  • The person will receive a SMS text message saying that you have sent them a card and containing a link.
  • The link will take them to a website with your DUB card on it, along with instructions on how to download DUB and exchange cards.
  • Once the recipient signs up for DUB, they will have to accept your pending sent card and then you will both always have each other's current information synced directly to your phone's native address book!

Unfortunately, we cannot fit all your card info into the 160 character limit on standard SMS messages, which is why we send a link to a website with your card info in the SMS text message.  If you want the recipient to get all your card information immediately, we recommend simply sending the card to their email address instead.

NOTE:  You may encounter problems sending your card via SMS / Text Messaging if the other person does not have text messaging enabled on their phone or their cellular provider blocks the SMS or fails to deliver it. If you are unsure if the other person has the ability to receive SMS messages, we recommend sending your card to them using their email address instead, since emails are not subject to service provider problems (See Scenario 1, above)
