I can't click the Create button to create my card on my BlackBerry!

Why is this happening?

When you open up DUB to the Create Card screen and fill in your name and email, DUB is making an account for you.  DUB pulls your phone number directly from your phone (so you don't have to type it in!) and then sends all that information to our server to create your account.

  • Sometimes, clicking the Create button seems not to work at all - there's no error or anything.  This is usually because you must allow DUB to pull your number from your phone in order to create your account , and to allow that you have to edit your permissions settings.  See "Nothing happens when I click Create" below for more information.
  • Sometimes, clicking the Create button generates an error message.  This means that your phone was able to communicate with our server, but something was wrong with the information itself.  See "I am getting an error message when I try to click Create"  below for more information.

Nothing happens when I click Create

If you just downloaded DUB onto your phone and nothing seems to happen when you click the Create button, you can usually correct the problem by just setting your permissions correctly and then trying again.

To correct your permissions settings, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the main BlackBerry menu
  2. Go to Options
  3. Go to Advanced Options
  4. Go to Applications ("Applications" will be in Options for BlackBerry 5.0 devices)
  5. Scroll down and put the cursor over DUB
  6. Click the Blackberry Menu key (the key to the left of the trackball)
  7. Click "Edit Permissions"
  8. For "Connections" click the Blackberry Menu key and press "Change Option"
  9. Click "Allow"
  10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for "Interactions" and "User Data"
  11. From there, reopen DUB and the issue should be resolved.

I am getting an error message when I try to click Create

If you are getting an actual error message when you click the Create button on your phone, it is probably because:

1. You are trying to make a card on an unsupported international phone (outside the U.S.A. and Canada)

Currently, DUB is not supported on phones outside of the US and Canada, so you will get an error saying that the number is in an invalid format.  What happened was that DUB pulled your number from your phone but then saw that it didn't have the number of digits it was expecting.

Please see our FAQ at http://support.dubmenow.com/forums/65460/entries/55753 to see how to be notified when DUB is available internationally.

2. You have already created a card for that phone number.

If you have created a card either online or on your phone in the past, DUB will not allow you to create a new account with the same phone number.

In this case, you can just click Already Have A Card (below or next to the Create button) and enter the email you used when you signed up for DUB and your password.  If you don't yet have a password, please see this FAQ: http://support.dubmenow.com/forums/65460/entries/63298
