Why is this happening?

This issue is usually characterized by a successful download of DUB followed by not being able to open DUB or click on the DUB icon.  Sometimes, users are able to open DUB once, and then never again.

A lot of different things could cause this issue.  Sometimes, DUB is prevented from communicating with our server by the device's permissions settings.  Other times, the device's Firewall is on, or a non-default theme causes the icon not to work even though DUB is installed correctly.  We've included our top three fixes below to try and resolve this problem.

How can I fix it?

There could be a number of things that cause this issue, so here are our top three culprits and how to set them correctly:

Possible Cause #1:  Permissions are not set correctly

To check and fix this issue, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the main blackberry menu
  2. Go to Options
  3. Go to Advanced Options
  4. Go to Applications ("Applications" will just be in Options for BlackBerry Storm 2)
  5. Scroll down and put the cursor over DUB
  6. Click the Blackberry Menu key (the key to the left of the trackball)
  7. Click "Edit Permissions"
  8. For "Connections" click the Blackberry Menu key and press "Change Option"
  9. Click "Allow"
  10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for "Interactions" and "User Data", making sure everything is set to "Allow"
  11. Click the menu key
  12. Click Save.  Reboot the phone if it prompts you to do so.

Possible Cause #2:  Firewall is not set correctly

To check and fix this issue, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Blackberry home screen
  2. Click "Options"
  3. Scroll down to "Security Options" and select it
  4. Scroll down to "Firewall" and select it
  5. Set "Status" to "Disabled"

Possible Cause #3:  A non-default theme is set

Installing themes on your BlackBerry can interfere with DUB and with many other apps.

To check and change your theme back to the default, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to your BlackBerry home screen
  2. Click "Options"
  3. Click "Theme
  4. Click the menu button and select "Reset  Theme Defaults"
